West Broad Street Apartments

People driving down West Broad Street in the heart of the City of Falls Church might have noticed some activity going on near the site of the old Anthony's Restaurant. What is coming is The West Broad Street Apartments by Rushmark Properties.

The development at 301 West Broad Street sits on the land that used to be occupied by: a vacant US Post Office, Anthony's Restaurant and a surface parking lot. According to the project's website the development will feature "286 residential units, a 60,000 square foot Harris Teeter grocery store and 2,250 square feet of ancillary retail", the building will also be built to LEED Silver standards.

This project sits less than mile away from a similar development that I profiled in an earlier post. Ironically both these projects feature grocery stores and have roughly the same number of units.

Regardless of the need for two grocery stores, I believe this development will be positive for the area due to the increased tax revenue. The project is tentatively scheduled for completion sometime during late 2015 or early 2016.
